Simple Circuit Projects for Kids
Understanding Circuits
A circuit is a path for electricity to flow. Kids can build working circuits with just a coin battery, an LED light, and copper tape. No soldering needed.
Project 1: Paper Circuit Card
Stick copper tape on cardstock in a loop. Place a coin battery at one gap and an LED at another. Press to complete the circuit and light up the card.
Project 2: Dough Circuits
Conductive playdough carries current. Insert LEDs into dough sculptures. Use salt dough for conductivity and insulating dough (sugar-based) to separate paths.
Project 3: Switches
Make a paper clip switch โ when closed, the LED lights; when open, it doesn't. Teaches the concept of open vs. closed circuits.
