Kids Biking Safety: A Parent Checklist
Before Every Ride
A quick ABC check (Air, Brakes, Chain) takes 30 seconds and prevents most mechanical failures. Teach kids this habit early.
A โ Air
Squeeze tires. They should feel firm, not squishy. Check the recommended PSI printed on the tire sidewall.
B โ Brakes
Squeeze both brake levers. The bike should not move when you push it forward. Brake pads should contact the rim, not the tire.
C โ Chain
The chain should be clean and lightly oiled. Spin the pedals backward โ the chain should move smoothly.
