Recycled Cardboard Crafts for Kids
Why Cardboard?
Cardboard is the ultimate open-ended craft material. It's free, abundant, sturdy enough to build 3D structures, and forgiving enough for young hands to cut and shape. Every delivery box is a potential castle, spaceship, or robot.
10 Project Ideas
1. Cardboard Robot
Stack boxes for body and head. Cut arm and leg pieces from flat cardboard. Attach with brads (paper fasteners) so joints move. Cover with aluminum foil for a metallic look.
2. Puppet Theater
Cut a large rectangle in the front of a box. Decorate the frame as curtains. Kids create sock puppets and put on shows from behind the box.
3. Car or Airplane
Use a large box as the body. Cut wheels from cardboard circles. Add a steering wheel (paper plate) and dashboard details. Big enough to sit inside?
4. City Skyline
Cut boxes into building shapes of varying heights. Decorate with windows, doors, and signs. Arrange on a large cardboard base to create a city for toy cars and figures.
